In our show “The New Normal”, we explore how the world is coping with the twists and turns of 2020, amid the consequences of Covid-19 and beyond. FRANCE 24 brings you a selection of original reports from our correspondents and teams around the globe.

Our reports:

>> In Sudan, we meet refugees fleeing the fighting in Ethiopia’s neighbouring Tigray region. Thousands have crossed the border and NGOs are racing against the clock to provide much-needed help.

>> After months of demonstrations, the student-led movement in Thailand has gained a strong base on the streets. Protestors are calling for Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to quit and for reform of the monarchy.

>> The Canary Islands‘ tourism industry has been hit hard by the Covid-19 crisis. In the Spanish archipelago, hotels left emptied of tourists are now housing an increasing influx of migrants.

>> And as Germany tries to rein in the second wave of Covid-19, migrants and asylum seekers’ integration efforts are hampered by the new restrictions. Jobs are being cut and language classes are moving online.
